Enid, OK

C: Cat Gabrel cgabrel@gmail.com

http://www.kitesoverenid.com/

At 1:00pm Thursday September 10th, Enid Habitat for Humanity and the community of Enid are getting together to try to break the Official Guinness Book World Record for Most kites Flown, by flying 1,000 or more kites in the sky at the same time. Just in case the weather/wind doesn't cooperate Sep 10th, there are 2 additional weather delay record attempt dates scheduled for this event: Sept 14th and Sep 19th. The reason for scheduling this event/record attempt on a weekday, is so that enough school children from the area schools can be bused in to fly kites and make the record attempt possible. Dedicated kite flyers are welcome to come fly and add to the actual number of kites flown. There should be a lot of media present during this event.

December

Dec. 5 - GREAT TEXAS KITE CLUB FUN FLY

Rockport, TX (at the beach park)

C: Dano Wright wickedrevs56@yahoo.com

Website: http://www.skypiratesonline.org

Event Info:
This is an invitational fun fly from those of us in Coastal Bend Skypirates to all Texas Kite Clubs to come on down for some mild weather winter wind fun. This summer a poll was taken to see if potential attendees preferred a early December date to coordinate with the season opening events put on by the City of Rockport who asked our club to fly kites for the event. The December date actually works better than mid January and the weather will be much improved and so will the activities!!!

--- Again the City has leased the festival grounds at the entrance to the beach for large kite flying displays and demosadjacent areas are available as well if we get crowded air traffic control.

This is in conjunction with the holiday season opening parades, (land and lighted boat that night) tree lighting ceremony, street party with music and food offerings etc. There is a potential here to be very entertaining event with all these activities in one small area, the Heritage District in downtown Rockport.

Information is posted on calendars of the yahoo groups sites of the following kite clubs -- Cloud Chasers,-- Austin SHARKS, -- Houston SPIKE,-- South Texas TACO, -- San Antonio and Skypirates, -- Gulf Coast.>
